AUSTIN, Tex.—Interactive Life Forms (ILF), makers of Fleshlight and Fleshjack brand products, has announced that its Marketing Director, Daniel Harvell, will be competing this fall in the fourth annual Unite the Fight gala, scheduled for Saturday, October 24, at the Hilton Austin.
The all-ages event pairs eight amateur drag queens with eight professional Austin-area drag queens to raise money to benefit The Equality Alliance, which supports organizations fighting for equality and human rights for the LGBTQ community such as OutYouth, the Kind Clinic, the Transgender Education Network of Texas and others. Contestants were announced on Tuesday, which is also when tickets went on sale.
“Just when I thought this year couldn’t get any crazier, I’m now shopping for wigs, heels and dresses,” quipped Harvell. “I think drag is an amazing expression of art and creativity, but this is way out of my comfort zone. But that’s part of the reason I want to do it. The other and bigger part is that I want to help make a difference in the LGBT community. We’ve made strides toward equality, but we can’t stop now.”
The event features a silent auction, a plated dinner, and live entertainment by the amateur drag contestants. Previous galas have also featured celebrity hosts such as Shangela from RuPaul’s Drag Race and HBO’s We’re Here. There are several ways to get involved with the event, including:
• Buy a ticket to the gala here. Tickets are 25 percent off until Tuesday, June 23, after which there will be no discounts.
• Donate to The Equality Alliance here.
• Buy a Mercedes-Benz raffle ticket here. The raffle is for a three-year lease of a 2020 C 300 Cabriolet. Raffle purchasers do not have to reside in Austin or Texas to buy, and they do not have to attend the gala to win the car.
