Colleagues, Friends Join Sportsheets For Anniversary Celebration

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.—Before buyers, manufacturers and more headed to the ANME Founders Show in Burbank, Calif., many headed south for a beach party at Sportsheets.

With 52 tons of sand spread out over the parking lot, Sportsheets transformed the location into a scene straight from a Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello movie, complete with thatched beach umbrellas, a live band, Foot booth and food and drink.

Guests were treated to live music from The Joe Walla Band as they mingled and enjoyed food from That Taco Guy and Sweet Lou’s Rollin’ BBQ, as well as libations from Four Seasons Brewing. The Kona Ice truck was on hand to help beat the heat, and games such as Jenga and corn hole were set up in shaded areas.

The event was designed to celebrate Sportsheets’ 25th anniversary. Inspired by a TV skit where David Letterman wore a special suit and stuck himself to a wall of Velcro, Tom Stewart introduced the Sportsheet in 1993. Since then, he has operated and grown the company with the help of his sister, Julie, and wife Kimberly.  Read about the history of Sportsheets here.
