CatalystCon Speakers To Discuss Activism, Sex Writing, More

LOS ANGELES—CatalystCon will feature more than 50 speakers and a variety of topics when it kicks off in May.

Slated for May 4-6 at the Los Angeles Airport Marriott, CatalystCon is a conference created to inspire exceptional conversations about sexuality. The conference mission is to reach out and stimulate attendees to create important conversations within communities and change discourse and acceptance of sexuality within society.

Session topics for the conference have been announced on the website, and include panels on activism, sex writing, spirituality and more.

“Activism for Introverts,” presented by Shadeen Francis and Yosenio V. Lewis, is a workshop that “aims to acknowledge the meaningful role of Introverts, encourage their continued presence in activist circles, and grow their ability to nurture themselves so they can sustain their fight for justice.”

August McLaughlin, Erica Garza and Erin Tillman will present the session “The Ins And Outs of Sex Writing: How To Move Past Fear and Flourish Creatively,” while Rev. Lacette Cross will lead the talk on “Sex Positive Spirituality,” an interactive presentation that “will create space for participants to examine pleasure-negative messages from religion and society, identify sources that foster a fuller sense of pleasure and discuss ways to cultivate a sex-positive spirituality.”

Other sessions taking place throughout the three-day conference include “Sex Work and The Law,” “You Let Her Do What? Examination of Polyamory and Masculinity,” “Are Trans Kids The New Hot Accessory?” and “Porn Tasting 101: Consumption for the Curious.” See the complete list of session here.
