Attention, Sex-Positive L.A.: Two Reasons to Hit the Stockroom

LOS ANGELES—Next weekend, fans of kinky accouterments have a golden opportunity when the Stockroom opens its doors for a very special sale on April 22-23. The Stockroom team accurately opines that its rummage sales are legendary in Los Angeles’s kink scene, but this one marks a very dramatic occasion. Soon the retail store/factory/HQ for the veteran producer of all things leather and latex will no longer be located in the Sunset Boulevard building that has been its home for a decade.

A statement on Stockroom.com notes, “As excited as we are about our new digs, we’ve put a lot of love into our time here. So, come by and help us say farewell. This sale is going to have even more deals than usual, which is saying something. When moving day comes, we want to lighten the load as much as possible, which means that you’re doing us a huge favor when you buy our corsets, latex clothing, and BDSM gear at huge discounts.”

In addition to great deals, the Moving Day Rummage Sale will include live demos Saturday and Sunday, a Leather Repair Station (10 min fixes are free, though some restrictions apply), Bootblacking, deeply discounted bondage furniture, and an additional 20 percent off all marked prices (excluding KinkLab items).

“As well as adding to your toybox and your wardrobe, join us as a form of celebration of the years of community-building we’ve done in this location, and of all that we’ll do in the years ahead at our new location,” the statement continues. “Keep watching our site and social media for an official announcement about the address.”

The following weekend, the Stockroom will be the setting for a panel discussion led by polyamory icons Janet Hardy and Tristan Taormino.

Hardy, has sold more than 200,000 copies of her book The Ethical Slut, and has taken part in more than 300 speaking engagements. Taormino, also a filmmaker and columnist, has sold more than 800,000 copies of her book Opening Up. Both books have been deeply influential in the polyamory movement. Capacity will max out at 100 tickets—so those who want to attend should move fast. The event takes place 3-7 p.m. Saturday, April 29.

The event is hosted and facilitated by Wry, a non-monogamy consultant and public speaker known under the Twitter handle @AWryPerspective. Wry’s experience with non-traditional relationship lifestyles, public appearances and workshop facilitation has led to the formation of PolyTalks, a panel discussion with experts in non-monogamy relationships.

Wry's PolyTalks are a guided open forum in a Q&A format to discuss polyamory, open relationships, and non-monogamy for the experienced, the novices and the curious.
