LONDON—Ann Summer—a popular retail outlet in the U.K.—has opened its first store in an airport.
London’s Gatwick Airport is now home to an Ann Summers location. The store primarily stocks swimwear, though there are also some lingerie and pleasure products available.
The retail chain operates more than 100 outlets throughout the U.K., but the new location is designed to make the brand accessible to international travelers.
“This is a really exciting moment for Ann Summers,” a company spokesperson told The Moodie Davitt Report. “It will be our first airport store experience. We feel so lucky to work in such a well-known location and will strive to provide customers with great products and the best in-store experiences.”
Though the concept of selling lingerie and pleasure products in an airport might be new to Londoners, it’s been fairly common in U.S. airports for sometime. Victoria’s Secret has opened outlets at Los Angeles International Airport on the West Coast, as well as John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. And Brookstone, which operates retail stores in the U.S and in China, has been a staple in various airports nationwide, carrying everything from LELO vibrators to its own white-labeled wand massager.
