HOLLYWOOD—Just about all adult entertainment fans are used to seeing ads and even infomercials for Adam & Eve and its products on late-night (and middle-of-the-night) TV, but those who tuned into this week's episode of The Soup got an extra dose.
The episode was a special Valentine's Day offering titled "Clips of Love and Passion" (or C.L.A.P.), and one segment was taken from what appears to be an Adam & Eve infomercial featuring their sexual advice columnist Dr. Kat Van Kirk helping 20-something Anna decide whether to order a dildo by mail.
"Dr Kat, tell me, do you think that there are a lot of women out there who are embarrassed to order adult products?" Anna asks.
"Well, they can be, Anna, but studies have shown that nearly half of all women already own one. So if you don't own one of these products, there's probably a pretty good chance that your neighbor does," responds Dr. Kat, to which Anna adds, "I believe that!"
Show host Joel McHale apparently found the exchange inspiring, echoing, "'I believe that'," and adding, "You should see how the lights dim in my neighborhood around 9:30!"
Whereupon Patrick Warburton (who'll long be remembered as "The Tick") enters and says, snarkily, "Or in my case, around 6 p.m."
He's quickly joined by Wendi McLendon-Covey, star of TV's The Goldbergs (not to be confused with TV's The Goldbergs), who's played McHale's former 8th-grade girlfriend Jenny throughout this episode, with Warburton as her husband.
"We're not leaving until we get a sample of your DNA to clone you with," she declares.
"What???" McHale responds.
"I mean, until you marry me," Jenny "corrects" herself—and to which Warburton adds, "Marry us!"
"No, I'm not doing that," McHale tells the pair, who prepare to leave, with Warburton pointing to McLendon-Covey's ass and letting McHale know, "And you are not gonna get a piece of this sweet, sweet corn cannon right here. We're outta here."
It's about as risque as The Soup gets—not to mention free publicity for Adam & Eve, so it's a winning episode for many reasons—and one which will be repeated on E! Entertainment until this coming Wednesday.
