Women in London Getting Down in Their Undies

LONDON—Trends on the fashion runways of London are dictating that lingerie is all the rage, and British women are answering that call by donning their corsets and hitting the disco.

According to TheCut.com, London women are shopping the lingerie section for things to wear to the disco, according to WWD. Sales of corsets were up 70 percent this November from last year at Selfridges. And they are not skimping on the couture, either. Corsets costing as much as $1,400 are being spotted in the hot spots, donned by women trying to emulate the likes of Lady Gaga and Rhianna.

Sales of Bordelle’s $596 slip increased 90 percent after Rihanna performed in her toilet-paper costume at the American Music Awards.

According to the article, the trend is expected to cross the pond soon enough, and retail outlets such as Topshop and Forever 21 have stocked up on pieces, including bunny ears. It all reminds of us a simpler time, when Madonna was branded as a tramp for wearing a full-length wedding gown. Oh, the good old days.
