Woman Sentenced for Trafficking Toys, Counterfeit Pills

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam - The Ho Chi Minh City People's Court has sentenced a Chinese national to seven years in prison for illegally possessing and trading in sex toys and stimulant pills.

Yao Xiu Yan, 39, was sentenced to five years for "selling counterfeit medicines" and two years for "storing and trafficking forbidden goods."

Yan and her husband reportedly moved to the city from China and rented a house to sell aphrodisiacs and sex toys between October 2005 and June 2007.

In a June 2007 raid at the house, police reportedly found 40,000 fake Viagra pills, 3,400 packs of fake Cialis and more than 3,000 sex toys. The goods were valued at more than $63,000.

Police said Yan had illegally imported the goods from China and sold them to pharmacies and cafes in Ho Chi Minh City.
