Velvet Hammer Burlesque Salon Set for March 27

LOS ANGELES - The Velvet Hammer Burlesque troupe founder Michelle Carr, singer-songwriter Kristian Hoffman and author-performer Pleasant Gehman will be featured in a book reading and costume exhibition from 7-9 p.m. March 27 at Coco De Mer.

Carr, Hoffman and Gehman will read excerpts from German book publisher Die Gestalten Verlag's photo retrospective of The Velvet Hammer Burlesque, an ensemble of voluptuous female performers who started the current neo-burlesque movement. They will sign autographs after the reading.

Ten of the most elaborate costumes created by The Velvet Hammer Burlesque performers will be on display at the event.

"Ten percent of the sales from the event will be donated to the Exotic World Museum, the only museum in the world dedicated to preserving the art and artifacts from the golden age of burlesque," Carr said.

Coco De Mer is located at 8618 Melrose Ave. in Los Angeles. Space is limited. Call 310-652-0311 for reservations.
