BATH, England – Police are investigating the theft of six boxes packed with used sex toys from the headquarters of novelty manufacturer LoveHoney.
The toys—which were cleaned pre-theft—had been collected as part of LoveHoney's recycling program. Six large boxes worth £750 (or approximately $1,150) were lifted from the company's premises last weekend.
Police are searching for suspects, but LoveHoney's head buyer has a more immediate concern: the potential resale of the stolen property. "If people are offered sex toys for sale that aren't in boxes, they should refuse them," says Bonny Hall. "The toys are all clean, but were designated for recycling, certainly not for reuse."
LoveHoney launched its environmentally friendly program last August. Called Rabbit Amnesty, the plan awards a new, half-price toy to customers who return their, er, well-loved items. The company donates £1 to the World Land Trust, an organization that purchases land in tropical forests, for every item collected.
For each item sent back to LoveHoney, the firm also makes a £1 donation to the World Land Trust, which runs tropical forest land purchase and protection projects.
