CHESTER, England - Shortly after being crowned "Retailer of the Year" for the fourth consecutive time at the Erotic Trade Only Awards, Nice 'n' Naughty has been shortlisted for two separate categories (the Employer of the Year award and the Women in Business award) at the highly acclaimed annual Cheshire Business Awards.
Company director Simon Prescott said, "Over the years, with our Investors in People recognition, our ongoing training with Structured Outlooks, help and guidance from local Chamber of Commerce, Business Link, and Chester Business Club we feel honored to be shortlisted for these awards and would like to offer thanks for their valued input helping us achieve our goals. It's greatly appreciated."
The Cheshire Business Awards honor nominees for their contribution to the County's prosperity and economic success. Hundreds of businesses across and array of sectors in the Cheshire area were considered. To be nominated, each business had to pass the scrutiny of a carefully selected panel of judges.
Retail director Trish Murray was the subject of the Women in Business award. Thrilled, she said, "Jacqueline Gold brought the adult industry to the forefront of people's minds in the '90s with her well recognised Ann Summers brand and home party plans. Her business focus, determination to succeed has earned her a place in the history books. ...
"The adult industry is a particularly male-dominated environment, entering into it nine years ago as a female with a wealth of ideas on how we could improve the business and the industry as a whole was uncertain ground-so its incredibly rewarding to be recognised for the input, hard work and vision that helped shape the North West's leading chain of adult stores that is Nice 'n' Naughty."
Regarding the Employer of the Year nomination, Richard Allmark, national retail manager said, "At Nice 'n' Naughty we believe that it's a real team effort, and we wholeheartedly recognise the importance of each individual staff member, that they are essential elements that operate and power the Nice 'n' Naughty machine. Our healthy work environment and business culture ensure the staff are motivated, listened to, developed, and rewarded."
Prescott added: "Our staff get good wages, conditions, health benefits and even gym membership, so it's easy for us to attract high calibre workers. Hopefully our business philosophy and continued awards success will help break down barriers and change people's perceptions of sex shops as seedy back street premises with boarded up windows."
The winners will be announced at a black tie gala dinner and awards ceremony, hosted by UK TV personality Lucy Meacock, at Chester's Crowne Plaza Hotel on September 19.
