SWEDEN - Apoteket, a government-owned monopoly of pharmacies in Sweden, has announced that their sex toy sales have far exceeded their initial expectations. The company started selling novelties in June.
Apoteket, formerly Apoteksbolaget, said they have sold over a thousand dildos and vibrators a week across the country and online, doubling their original sales projections.
Eva Fernvall, product sales head at Apoteket, said she was very pleased with the heavy turnover and told a news agency that Apoteket's webpage for sex toys is the fourth most visited page on its site.
The pharmacy, with their "Trust in Lust" slogan, also shelves toys in 100 boutiques across Sweden and have seen higher sales in their stores compared to online.
