Topco Sales Celebrates With <i>Sex and the City</i>

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Topco Sales and grrl toyz added their novelties to the PR blitz related to the highly anticipated Sex and the City movie by providing gifts and products at screenings and parties across America.

 

"What savvy sex toy company would not celebrate the Sex and the City movie?" asked Desiree Duffie, director of marketing and public relations for Topco Sales. "The Sex and the City series exposed the public to rabbit-style vibes and created awareness that started a lucrative ripple effect in the entire industry."

 

In one instance, Topco felt the effect immediately after an episode aired featuring a scene with a swing; sales of their own Love Swing increased. Duffie added, "Rumor has it the swing used in the episode was an actual Topco Sales Love Swing! ... It just made sense for Topco Sales, as one of the leading global novelty manufacturers, to be involved in the fun."

 

Events included a Hot 92.3 screening in Los Angeles that featured grrl toyz products and shirts courtesy of Love Shack Parties, some of which were taken home by lucky party-goers. In Cincinnati, Ohio, a SATC-themed Bang Girls event at Bang Nightclub featured grrl toyz products. Additionally, Topco Sales' Sex Tarts and grrl toyz items helped make up the swag bags at New Line Cinema's Sex and the City opening party.

 

The links between Topco and SATC don't stop there. Duffie added, "When watching the movie, keep your eyes peeled for adult actress Ryder Skye who has a steamy threesome scene. Recently molded by Topco Sales, Skye's toys are slated to be a part of the Wildfire Celebrity Series. Her replica pieces will be a part of the January 2009 product release."

 

Anticipating the popularity of the movie-which grossed an estimated $55.7 million during the opening weekend, beating out the latest Indiana Jones installment-Topco Sales is also developing a Penthouse City line of products, which will be released this summer.

 

This product line is indicative of a cornerstone at Topco. As stated in a press release: "Anticipating trends and consumer interest is a key principal for Topco Sales-knowing what's hot when it's hot benefits the industry as a whole."
