Topco Goes Green in 2008

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - One of the leading adult novelty manufacturers, Topco Sales, has announced plans to go green in honor of its 35th anniversary. Recycling, water filtration, solar energy, RoHS and WEEE are currently being discussed and/or implemented as a way to reduce Topco's carbon footprint according to Director of Marketing Desiree Duffie.

"As a leader in adult novelty manufacturing for 35 years, we now look ahead to the next 35 years and beyond," she said. "We understand the importance of being environmentally conscious and the responsibility we have as one of the world's largest novelty manufactures. Topco's commitment to green will help shed a positive light on the adult toy industry as a whole."

Duffie further shared that by starting at the top, the company hopes its efforts will trickle down to benefit distributors, online retailers, brick-and-mortar stores and, ultimately, the end-user as well.

Topco's Commitment to Green initiatives include: reducing packaging sizes and repacking many existing products into clamshells rather than boxes; removal of PVC from trays and clams for the European market; RoHS compliance and testing of every product internally with a state-of-the-art RoHS test facility to ensure total compliance; WEEE compliance; recycling of all cardboard; use of disposable clamshells with plans for embossing clamshells with a rating grade stamp in the future; using a fluid waste clarifier to filter water so sewage meets all local wastewater regulations; recycling of all outdated and non-functioning electronic equipment including CRTs; switching to all florescent lighting; planning to introduce a solar energy system for power generation and water heating; and planning for a fluorescent tube disposal system to capture gases for proper disposal.
