Teenager Gets Slap on Wrist in Virtual Sex Toy Lawsuit

TAMPA BAY, Fla. A 19-year-old who was sued by the makers of Second Life for selling unauthorized versions of their “SexGen” products has received only a slap on the wrist for the infraction.

A U.S. federal judge last week accepted a settlement that does not have Leatherwood admitting any wrongdoing, or paying any monetary damages, the Associated Press reported in the Sydney Morning Herald. Leatherwood was initially sued by Eros LLC, the Tampa Bay-area company that creates virtual sex scripts in Second Life, including virtual sex toys users can purchase for and use with their avatars.

When contacted by the AP, Leatherwood admitted selling the products, but said he was only doing it for a little extra money. He further stated he stopped selling the products a year ago and rarely visits the website anymore.
