WINNEPEG, Manitoba - The Taboo Naughty But Nice Sex Show is set to open its three-day run in Regina, Saskatchewan, on Friday.
The event, described as an upscale consumer trade show dedicated to romance and self-improvement, has been making the rounds in smaller Canadian cities.
The Regina Taboo Sex Show marks the show's first appearance in Saskatchewan. Canwest show director Darryl Rosengreen said Saskatchewan is the only province in western Canada that has not had a sex show.
The Regina Taboo Sex Show's stage presentations and seminars will be held in the Conexus Arts Centre.
Deb Gibson, owner of body-jewelry manufacturer Arabesque Body Creations, said the organizers at Canwest are doing an outstanding job of setting up shop as discreetly as possible and accommodating the family-like atmosphere of the neighborhood.
"The shows have been secluded from other events, such as the pet expos, and they have done a great job with children being around at next-door shows," she said. "The idea of small-center venues is doing great."
Gibson said no one would be able to tell there was a sex show going on without actually going past the doormen.
The March 28-30 show in the farm-based city of Abbotsford drew nearly 15,000 without protest or public outcry, Gibson said.
"Canwest does a good job organizing the shows in the well-patched communities they hold their shows at," she said.
Gibson said the third annual Taboo show held April 4-6 in Red Deer was an educational experience.
"It gave us a really good chance to educate the public," she said.
