ST. CATHARINES, Ontario - Popular TV personality and sex educator Sue Johanson is scheduled to make a guest appearance July 14 at Aren't We Naughty for the grand-opening celebration of its newest location in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. The new St. Catharines store, which opened its doors for business on June 23, is AWN's 11th retail location.
The store opened without any issues concerning bylaws or city ordinances, according to General Manager Jim Terkalas, who told AVN Novelty Business magazine about the obstacle the company did face.
"Once the community found out that we were building a store, we received plenty of emails and phone calls that our type of store was not welcome in that area," he explained. "Some [people] had concerns about graphics in the window [such as girls in lingerie], so we took those down and replaced them with more lifestyle graphics-like a couple kissing."
Terkalas went on to explain that once the store was open for business, area residents began coming in and admitted to the staff that it is not at all what they expected. "It's a clean store with a well-educated and friendly staff," he continued. "We view sexuality as a very positive, healthy, and necessary part of every relationship. We do our part in educating the public by doing seminars. The fact that Sue Johanson is coming gives our store brand more imagery and credibility. She believes in what we're doing in our stores-we're not your average sex shop."
Johanson will be available on Saturday, July 14, at 1 p.m. to meet and greet patrons at Aren't We Naughty's new store located at 366 Bunting Road.
