Simply Blown Is Simply Unique

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – It never really entered Scott Slagerman’s mind that one day he would use his skills and talent as a glass blower to create sexual pleasure items. But now, it seems like the most normal thing in the world.

Slagerman’s Simply Blown dildos are glass items, each of which are individually blown in the Italian style.

“We are using high-end art glass,” explained Slagerman, who studied his technique at UCLA and in Paris for 17 years. “It is not only beautiful, but it completely lends itself to different forms. Its strength and durability are unparalleled, and the clarity is really beautiful.”

To date, Slagerman has produced pieces for a line called Simply Love, that features exquisite colors – bright reds, blues, purples, green, yellows, and blacks – and various sizes (Small: 5 x 1.25 inches; Medium: 7 x 1.25 inches; Large: 9 x 1.5 inches; Two-Way: 12 x 1.5 inches).

But making pleasure items is a far cry from how Slagerman started in glass working. His father, who was an optician in Southern California for many years, would often bring home pieces of glass that he used to sculpt into lenses for glasses. Slagerman would take various pieces, and work them into his own stained glass-type projects when he was a child. His interest continued to grow, and after studying the process of glass blowing at UCLA, he was afforded the opportunity to travel and live overseas to study the Italian style, one of the more high-end forms of glass blowing.

When he returned to the U.S. a little more than a year ago, he was able to translate that into his new profession. Not just functional, each piece in the Simply Love line is stylish as well. They appeal not only to consumers of high-end items, but to collectors of beautiful glass sculptures as well. The pieces range in price from $80 to $220, and new lines will be produced in the coming months.

Slagerman and Simply Blown will officially launch July 13-15 during the AVN Novelty Expo, and will be exhibiting at Booth 1129 of the Hilton Los Angeles hotel in Universal City, Calif.
