The story below is taken from the October 2013 issue of AVN magazine, where we asked 10 sexperts to talk about future trends that they would like to see in the pleasure product industry. Each shared some interesting thoughts, and we'll be posting these individually over the next couple of weeks. Pictured here: Jamye Waxman.

I have a few ideas for things that should be trending or getting more attention than they are: toys that focus on sexual health and pleasure for her, but aren’t your basic vibe and still get the job done well; couples toys that actually pleasure the clitoris the entire time of intercourse, but aren’t so bulky or obstructive that they get in the way of penetration; and vibrators for guys that work the penis right.
Also, what would be nice are Kegel balls that actually exercise your muscles for you, so that you know for sure that you’re doing it right. It would be nice if they vibrate, and—in my fantasy world—even had an attachment that massages outside the clitoris, but that’s a bit odd. I would love to see Kegel balls that come in various sizes, all of which vibrate, and perhaps even have three intensities of vibration. Then, when you put two balls together, the vibration gets even stronger. (Three balls together would be “holy moly Hitachi” speed!)
Another idea is an oral sex machine for women, one that sucks and flicks just the way she wants her lover to. Not like a wheel, but more of a vacuum with side-to-side swivel.
More ideas? A vibrating cock ring that never leaves her clit with each thrust. A masturbation sleeve for him with a vibrating feature that rotates up the sleeve (I’m thinking the same pattern as a barber shop pole) or a masturbation sleeve that can vibrate just the head, the frenulum or the base of the penis (the same products would offer those three options).
Finally, an observation: Toys for guys are definitely trending more, and I think that market is such a fun place for expansion!
