Sex-Toy Bandit Waives Hearing for Three Burglaries

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A man charged with breaking into three Springfield stores and stealing sex toys and other merchandise has waived his right to a probable-cause hearing.

Daniel Edward Ray, 36, charged with three counts of second-degree burglary, is scheduled to be arraigned next week in the Greene County Circuit Court next week.

Ray allegedly burglarized Victoria's Palace, Cosmic Fish and Adam & Eve in January. He was recorded by surveillance cameras at all three stores, and police found his blood and fingerprints at the stores.

"Suspect Ray claimed that at the time of the incident, he was very high on meth, which he claimed causes him to do crazy things that involves sex toys and pornographic material," reads a probable-cause statement used to charge Ray.

Ray has previous convictions for drug-related charges and could be ordered to serve the remainder of his sentences, which are in effect until 2013.
