NEW YORK - Rock band R.E.M. visited adult retailer Babeland's Rivington Street location to use the store as a backdrop for a music video, Babeland reported on its blog.
Jamye Waxman, marketing and education coordinator for
Babeland New York,
wrote in her blog that a location scout called to find out whether the store
would be interested in being a part of the video.
"Call me easy, but the obvious answer was ‘hell, yes!'" she wrote.
After preparing for R.E.M.'s arrival-and drawing a crowd of fans outside-the store welcomed the band, two cameras, some lighting people and "a gaggle of other important behind-the-scenes folk," Waxman said.
"R.E.M. was playing the first single-Supernatural Serious-off their soon-to-be released album in a number of different locations on the Lower East Side," she added. "The first stop was our next-door neighbor (Inoteca Restaurant)."
After a performance that "rocked," Waxman said, the band came back to sign an autograph for the store.
"Next time you're in the Rivington location," she said, "be sure to check it out."
