Pulse and Cocktails Employee Pleads Guilty of Theft

YORKSHIRE, England – The Pulse and Cocktails in Armley, Leeds, reportedly caught an employee suspected of theft after the store's owners set up hidden cameras.

The store’s owners told the Leeds Crown Court that it set up hidden cameras to catch employee David Harper, 36, who previously was caught three times stealing as much as $60.

Private detectives reportedly were sent to the store to return DVDs in transactions that were tracked. When store owners noticed that money was missing from the cash register, Harper was suspended from work.

Harper initially denied the alleged thefts, which took place in March and April 2007, saying he took money for gasoline as was agreed. However, when the case went to trial, he changed his plea to guilty.

People familiar with the situation said tension rose when Harper sold his Passion X business to Pulse and Cocktails and went from being an owner to being an employee.

A judge has ordered Harper to do 150 hours of community service over the next 12 months and pay $1,100 in court fees.
