President and V.P. Cut Ties to BDSM Giant Spartacus

PORTLAND, Ore.—President Stephen Bergquist and Vice President Laurie Bergquist have announced their departure from BDSM manufacturing giant Spartacus Inc.

Stephen and Laurie Bergquist were best known to adult industry professionals as primary representatives of Spartacus Inc.’s manufacturing division for 17 and 22 years, respectively.

Al and Lynda Bedrosian founded Spartacus Inc. in 1987 and enlisted daughter Laurie to work as an inventory clerk at the Spartacus retail store in 1988. Shortly thereafter Laurie began oversight of customer service inquiries, marketing, product development and bookkeeping, among other managerial duties.

In 1994 she brought husband Stephen on board to assist in production and day-to-day operations, where they continued to spearhead the company’s direction.

Of their departure from Spartacus, Laurie Bergquist said, “After working with Spartacus for over 20 years, it is undoubtedly time for us to make a change. I am looking forward to the next chapter in my career, whatever that may be.”

Laurie Bergquist told AVN that she’d most miss her co-workers and industry friends.

“I am going to deeply miss the wonderful people I have met over the years. Saying goodbye to the ‘family’ we have connected with in our industry will be hard,” Stephen Bergquist said.

In the days following the couple’s departure from Spartacus, the company laid off Sales & Marketing Director Casey O’Connell as well as Art Director Carmel Kenyon.

“We were definitely the face of Spartacus for many years, and we wish Spartacus a bright future,” Laurie Bergquist said.

She also said that “seeing the growth over the years, and knowing we were a big part of that,” was the most satisfying part of the job.
