CHATSWORTH, Calif.—AVN Media Network has announced the pre-nom process for the upcoming fifth annual “O” Awards is now open. The pre-nomination process for the awards runs through Friday, Sept. 27.
“We wanted to give everyone ample time to get in the information on their products and companies to be considered,” said Sherri L. Shaulis, senior editor of pleasure products for AVN. “There have been so many exciting items that were released in the past year, and we are really looking forward to all the submissions.”
The “O” Awards will take place Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, as part of the AVN Novelty Expo in Las Vegas.
The “O” Awards are designed to honor the best of the best when it comes to products and manufacturers.
To pre-nominate a product or line of products for any of the categories, email [email protected] with the category name in which the product is being nominated, the name of the product, the manufacturer of the product, and your name and email address for contact purposes if needed. Products must have been released between July 1, 2012, and Sept. 30, 2013.
To mark the five-year milestone, AVN has added new categories to the “O” Awards to better reflect what the softer side of the industry has to offer. This year, Outstanding Packaged Lingerie Line and Outstanding Costume Lingerie Line will join the 16 categories from last year, including Outstanding Product for Women, Outstanding Product for Men and Lifetime Achievement.
“We added the new categories to keep in line with all the great changes and advancements that are being made in the lingerie sector,” Shaulis said.
The following are the categories for the 2014 “O” Awards:
Outstanding Product for Women: Any vibrator, dildo or other product designed specifically for women.
Outstanding Product for Men: Any cock ring, sleeve or other product designed specifically for men.
Outstanding Luxury Product: Any high-end product designed for men, women or couples.
Outstanding Dietary Supplement: Any pill, drink or other substance ingested for an increase in performance or pleasure.
Outstanding Enhancement Product: Any spray or cream applied externally for an increase in performance or pleasure.
Outstanding Innovation: Any product that provides a technological improvement to the pleasure products field.
Outstanding Lubricant: Any specific lubricating product.
Outstanding Body or Skin Care Line: Any line of products designed to cleanse, scent or pamper the skin.
Outstanding Non-Powered Product: Any product that requires no external power source.
Outstanding Powered Product: Any product that uses batteries or electrical current.
Outstanding Lingerie Collection: Any assortment of themed undergarments.
Outstanding Packaged Lingerie Line: And collection of lingerie available in themed packaging.
Outstanding Costume Lingerie Line: Any collection of lingerie designed for use as a costume or for role-playing purposes.
Outstanding Accessory Product or Line: Any product or line of products used for body adornment.
Outstanding Marketing Campaign: Any campaign specific to a company, line or product.
Outstanding Packaging: Packaging for any specific product or line of products.
Outstanding Debut Product: Any product that was launched between July 16, 2012 and Sept. 30, 2013.
Lifetime Achievement: Awarded to an individual who has made significant contributions to the pleasure products industry.
The AVN Novelty Expo takes place Jan. 15-17. It is one of four events—the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, the AVN Novelty Expo, AEE Fan Fest and the AVN Awards—hosted by AVN as part of the AVN Show.
