WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif.—The Pleasure Chest, an adult retailer that has long been an advocate of the LGBTQ community, is organizing events to help support members of Orlando and those affected by the recent mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub.
“We are devastated and heartbroken over the senseless tragedy in Orlando this weekend,” the company said in a statement. “This vicious attack on the LGBTQ community is not the first we have endured. With every horrific act of violence that targets our family, we are reminded of those that came before: from Stonewall to Laramie, from San Francisco to Humboldt, and beyond. We send our love and support to the victims and their families and loved ones, and stand in solidarity with everyone affected by this act of hate and violence.”
All this week, all of The Pleasure Chest locations—in Chicago, West Hollywood and New York City—will set up stations where customers and community members can make cards to be sent to the Orlando GLBT Center.
Additionally, The Pleasure Chest will donate 10 percent of sales no June 19 from all of its stores to the center, which is organizing grief counseling, medical bill assistance and community support groups for those affected by the shooting.
