Pipedream Adds to Basix Line

CHASTSWORTH, Calif. - Pipedream Products is rolling out new offerings from its Basix line of rubber sex toys this week at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas.

Though Chief Operating Officer Nick Orlandino says the line has taken off since its premiere at the Adult Novelty Expo in 2007, the company plans to add only a few SKUs to the line in the first quarter of the year.

"This isn't the old days when we tried to rush things out," he told AVN Novelty Business. "We've developed this line with precision."

Orlandino said he has been involved in every step of the manufacturing process since the company entered the rubber-toy market.

"I've been back there myself for weeks, pounding, pouring molds, filling molds and figuring out the best way to make this stuff cost-effectively and quick," he explained. "It's all about speed when you are manufacturing. There isn't a book for this. It's not a tube filler or silk screener; we had to build our machinery and production line from the bottom up, but it was worth it.

Orlandino said more is on the horizon for the remainder of the year.

"In 2008, we're [also] buying more machinery and making more molds," he said. "Our goal is to take a big chunk of the rubber market. Right now, I want to take baby steps with the line. I want to get it perfect."
