Penthouse Introduces ‘Pop Shots’ With Rock Legend Dave Navarro

LOS ANGELES, CA—With the 50th anniversary of Penthouse approaching, the magazine honors its iconic history—but with a twist: Kelly Holland, Managing Director of Penthouse Magazine, adds a fresh new feature, Pop Shots, to the iconic adult glossy. The Pop Shots series gives artists from a variety of disciplines the opportunity to create a photo layout that represents their take on what’s beautiful, what’s sexy, and what’s hot. The first Pop Shots issue will feature the photo art of rock star and TV personality Dave Navarro along with a candid conversation about his creative vision.

"For almost 50 years Bob Guccione, and the publishers that followed, have told our readers what’s hot; we've presented our vision of what makes a woman sensual, desirable and sexy,” noted Holland. “Starting this month and moving forward we flip the script with Pop Shots. We invite artists from a variety of disciplines to pick up the camera and show us what they think is hot in 2014 and then talk about it with us. We’re excited because we think it’s going to produce some real surprises. In preparation, we spent months discussing who we wanted to partner with to launch Pop Shots and one name came up consistently: Dave Navarro.”

“The opportunity to be behind the camera for Penthouse Magazine was beyond intriguing,” Navarro said. “I am grateful for the chance to do something uniquely beautiful and share it with Penthouse readers and fans.”

“I see Dave Navarro as a modern day Renaissance Man: talented, articulate, a visualist and a lover of women,” added Holland. “Our premise to Dave was simple: we supply the 'canvas'—the models, the set, the support staff. You bring the vision... whatever that might be. We agreed that we wouldn't edit it or stamp it with our DNA. Dave had complete freedom. That's a little daunting and it required a 'leap of faith' from everyone at the magazine. The shoot was better than we could have imagined. Dave went in a direction that was such a beautiful surprise!”

The magazine is already available on newsstands.
