DENVER—Less pants. More Science.
That’s the motto of Dr. X. Treme and the staff at Orgasmatronics Inc., the company behind the Ambrosia Vibe, a bionic strap-on that vibrates when touched.
“The entire thing started because I was interested in getting into the field of teledildonics,” explained Dr. X, who in a past life worked as a quantum physicist for the government. “My first version had various inputs and electronics housed in a complicated base.”
With input from friends and more, Xtreme has drastically modified the design of the Ambrosia and taken it to the people in the form of an Indiegogo.com campaign in an effort to fund production of the product. Though the campaign still has more than two weeks to go, it has already reached more than 150 percent of the initial funding goal $32,000 and has started funding stretch goals.
The Ambrosia Vibe differs from other dongs used in strap-on harnesses because it has a sensor in the shaft that responds when stimulated by activating a bullet vibrator housed in the base. The bullet vibe helps the dong to stimulate the wearer like a real sex organ.
The original version, Dr. X explained, had a complicated base, and input from friends and others got him to change the design, the performance and more.
“I was getting feedback, and started thinking that I needed to be thinking about how a real body part functions and responds and work from that,” he told AVN. “After seeing how many people are into strap-ons, I wanted to treat it not just like a sex toy, but as an extension of the body.”
Now, a sensor in the cavity of the Ambrosia Vibe responds to pulling, sucking, stroking, penetration and other versions of stimulation and in turn stimulates the wearer with the bullet vibe. If the Ambrosia detects a short squeeze and release, the vibrational reponse is a short, soft pulse. If the Ambrosia detects a soft, rhythmic motion, the response is a continuous, soft vibration. And so on, and so on. The Ambrosia can be used during solo or during partner play, and Orgasmatronics’ website features videos with a number of ways to use the piece.
The company’s goal is to increase the diversity of sexual experiences for all people, all while using less pants and more science.
