Ohio Woman Finds Sex Toys at Mailbox

ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Butler County trailer-park resident Melanie Ridner found a box of sex toys on Jan. 14 when retrieving her mail, the Journal News reported.

"It's just disgusting," Ridner reportedly said, noting that the container had a clear cover and was in plain view of onlookers. "What if I had sent a teenager to get my mail?"

Ridner, who said she suspected that the items were placed near her mailbox to harass her, took the items to her attorney.

Butler County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. Monte Mayer told AVN Novelty Business that although he didn't have a copy of the report in front of him, he was familiar with the case due to recently speaking with the local media.

"The alleged victim lives in a trailer park where the mailboxes are centrally located for every resident in that community," he said. "She went to collect her mail at her box, which has dozens of other boxes attached to it. Sitting on top of the mailboxes was a box of used sex toys that were not specifically mailed or addressed directly to her. She told the police who she thought was responsible, and an investigation was launched."

Mayer said no criminal charges have been filed.

"It would be very difficult to prove the intent," he added. "The box was simply set there by all residences' mailboxes, but the alleged victim felt that she had been singled out and that they were placed there intentionally."
