Trade magazines for the adult industry are often filled with news and stories about partnerships between distributors and manufacturers, retailers and distributors, and even adult companies and mainstream outlets. But it’s not often there is news about two manufacturing companies teaming up to create a fusion product.
“We’re co-branding a vibe with Nomi Tang, the first partnership of its kind in the industry,” said Suki Dunham, founder of OhMiBod. “This is an exciting partnership … and it certainly is a delicious one.”
The two companies—each of which is known for outstanding products: OhMiBod for the Freestyle, Club Vibe and NaughtiBod and Nomi Tang for its Better Than Chocolate design—have created the OhMiBod Better Than Chocolate Music Edition.
The companies will debut the new wireless waterproof vibrator at The AVN Show, scheduled for Aug. 5-8 at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Fla.
“In this industry, it seems like there is a bit of isolationism when it comes to product development,” Dunham said. “With this type of partnership, we are collaborating with another top-tier company, in order to bring an exciting new product to our customers.”
Dunham said the partnership follows a longstanding tradition from the mainstream world, where companies team up to leverage the strengths of their respective brands: Apple and Nike, Pepsi and Taco Bell, Coca-Cola and Nascar. In this case, OhMiBod’s technology was added to the award-winning design of Better Than Chocolate to create a wireless, waterproof vibrator that pulses to music or operates in a manual mode.
OhMiBod’s Freestyle is the wireless version of the company's flagship product, the OhMiBod Classic, and was the first wireless and rechargeable music-driven vibrator to hit the market when it debuted at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in 2009.
Nomi Tang’s Better Than Chocolate, which recently won the coveted European Red Dot Design Award 2010, combines technology and sensuality in a multi-speed, multi-function, waterproof vibrator. The vibrator is ergonomically designed and features a touch sensor that allows the user to scroll through vibration patterns and functions.
Now, that design features the technology of OhMiBod products, in that it will pulsate and respond to music played on an iPod, iPhone or any mp3 device when connected to the wireless transmitter. This collaboration marks the first time OhMiBod’s music-driven technology will be available in a waterproof vibe.
“We’re tremendously excited about this,” Dunham said. “The vibrator will come in an OhMiBod signature hot pink color and will have the music technology of our Freestyle integrated into its circuitry. It will be available in September and will retail for $99. OhMiBod and Nomi Tang share common goals of bringing high-quality, women-friendly, sex-positive products to the market. This collaborative product does just that and adds an exciting new product to our line of luxury wireless music vibes.”
