New Zealand Woman Buys 18K Vibe

WELLINGTON, New Zealand—A New Zealand woman has purchased the country’s first 18-carat-gold sex toy from an online sex shop.

Sexgear.co.nz brand manager Natalie Blakemore confirmed to online media outlet Stuff that the Yva from LELO’s LUXE line was sold to the anonymous buyer for $2,229.

"This really is the pièce de résistance of all vibrators so we were surprised to find that it had been sold during a time when money is supposedly so tight," Blakemore told Stuff. "Every day you hear messages of doom and gloom about the recession, but we are yet to feel the effects."

LELO created the luxury line of gold-plated vibrators in an effort to create a high-end luxurious line, like fashion brands to with their haute couture lines.
