Manila Police Seize Sexy Accessories

MANILA, Philippines – The Manila Police District took action against streetside salespeople hawking adult toys and counterfeit Viagra this week, seizing products and arresting vendors. Prompted by Mayor Alfredo Lim, the raid is part of a drive to remove illegal products from the streets. More than 1,100 boxes of the faux erectile-dysfunction drug, valued at approximately $66,000 USD, were confiscated along with numerous vibrators and sex dolls.

Police superintendent Romulo Sapitula told the Manila Standard, "Parents with children in tow have complained about the merchandise sold in the open. We are still determining the source." He added that the arrested vendors would be charged by city prosecutors.

Sapitula said there were health concerns regarding the counterfeit Viagra, which is allegedly imported from China and India. Two years ago, police conducted similar crackdowns among Manila's street vendors prompted by complaints from Pfizer, the company which produces Viagra and owns its trademark.
