Lovely Planet Takes Over 1969 Brand

MARSEILLE, France—Lovely Planet, international distributor and manufacturer of erotic and designer products, is taking over the brand 1969.

“We are delighted to take on a brand that is creative, innovative and at the very origins of the love shop concept,” said Nicolas Busnel, founder of Lovely Planet. “1969 is a historical customer of our group. Its positioning is consistent with out philosophy in every detail. This merger gives long life to a brand that contributes to sexual freedom and the popularization of sex toys. It was an obvious choice.”

1969 was a symbolic year of triumph for baby boomers. Pacifist actions, sexuality freed from the shackles of religion and hopes for equality of the sexes were all summed up in the worldwide slogan “Peace & Love.” These values have never been so appropriate and current as they are today, and they are the very foundations of the brand 1969.

A veritable curiosity cabinet, each 1969 boutique is designed as place that women enter without any embarrassment and that men no longer visit in secret. From the window to the interior design, from the way products are staged to the offer of personalized advice, everything has been designed to create intimate places for couples.

Thanks to a unique boutique concept, 1969 pulled off the feat of freeing sex toys, erotic cosmetics, fine lingerie, saucy games and gift sets from specialized shops and quickly opened two boutiques, one in Paris and one in Marseille, France. It then launched an online boutique, www.1969.fr, and partnerships with Vente-Privee.com, Amazon.com, RuedCommerce.fr and PrixMania.com. In June 2009, 1969 completed its range and created its own line of sex toys.

From its beginnings in 2003, Lovely Planet worked with designer Marine Peyre to design the first sex toy raised to the status of a designer object. It was sold at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and exhibited at ART BASEL in Maimi. Called Enjoy!, it is still quoted as a reference in the world of design.

Lovely Planet designs, develops, manufactures and sells three brands: Maison Close, fine and saucy lingerie; Mixgliss, intimate lubricants; and Love to Love, which revisits designer classics and cultural icons.

“Our aim is for people to discover sensual pleasure in a complex-free way through innovative, ergonomic and fun objects that are part of a lifestyle where fashion, design and well-being blend together,” Busnel said. “We have few requirements but many desires.”
