LELO Does Lust for Men

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Building on their line of exquisitely designed luxury pleasure objects, Swedish company LELO is soon to release a men's line. The first toys in the line are BO, a C-ring; BOB, a prostate stimulator; and EARL, a stainless steel copy of BOB that comes with LELO-branded cufflinks.

"There was a big request from the market. People look at LIV as a versatile toy, for both men and women, but men in the Bay Area are asking, 'You have great women's products. Where's the men's?'" Shaye Saldaña, sales and marketing manager, told AVN Novelty Business.

BO is a vibrating elastomer cock ring with a medical-grade silicone encased one-speed, rechargeable bullet, meant to stimulate the clit. Saldaña noted that the price point (an undetermined amount expected to fall around $50 or $60) for this product is going to be higher than a standard ring, but it will have a much longer useful life. "It will have the lifetime of about 50 disposable rings," he said.

BOB is a teardrop-shaped prostate massager made of medical-grade silicone. "When the designers were conceiving this item, they looked at everything that was out in the market and took the best elements and combined them for elegance," he explained. "It's elegant; it's desirable; it's unintimidating" This item will retail for around $50.

EARL is the stainless steel version of BOB. Each EARL will come with a pair of LELO cufflinks so men can use the toy and wear the brand on their sleeves. Saldaña speculates this set may retail for around $500. "We're getting a little couture," he said.

LELO displayed its men's line at the AVN Novelty Expo (ANE) this past July. "The move into men's got a great response at the ANE. We're going to do a launch party for the men's line at Good Vibrations [in San Francisco] so people can look at the elegance and quality," he told ANB.

Saldaña explained that he feels the San Francisco Bay Area is a good gauge for how a product will do in the wider market because of the diversity in the area. "We have everything they have in the San Fernando Valley: manufacturers, adult video producers. We also have a strong men's community, especially the gay community."

Right now, the men's line is just for the United States, though the company had a soft launch at a private showing in Stockholm earlier this year. "We wanted to echo that launch at the ANE," Saldaña remarked. The new line will be showcased at October's Venus Berlin, during which LELO also will be celebrating its five-year anniversary.

The men's line is slated to be ready to ship in October. Pre-orders will be taken at StorErotica and at September's International Lingerie Show.
