MONTREAL - Joy Toyz, a retailer of "women-positive" sex toys, partnered with video-sex-chat provider LiveCamNetwork for a two-hour live online sex-toy demonstration last week.
Held from 7-9 p.m. EDT on Thursday, the high-definition streaming broadcast featured
Joy Toyz demonstrator Adele explaining the company's various toys to a group of LiveCamNetwork chat hosts and surfers. Videoconferencing technology provided wide-screen video and audio to the viewers, who were able to post questions and
comments via text chat.
"Recently, [LCN President Mark Prince and I] stumbled across each other and got talking about our businesses and how we could use LCN's live-chat system to promote Joy Toyz," said Joy Toyz founder and President Sebastian Yeung. "We already do in-person sex parties. Doing the same thing, but this time over the Web, makes it possible for us to reach new people who haven't heard of us or else are too shy to go to one of our parties in person or to visit a sex-toy store."
"It just makes sense for two noncompeting companies, like LCN and Joy Toyz, that serve the same customer base to work together to boost each other's sales," Prince added. "Besides, allowing our subscribers to see these products online and to buy them for their preferred girls for later private use online helps build customer loyalty and attachment to LCN."
The two-hour show was shot in LCN's studios in Montreal. The girls sat on two couches in front of a large high-definition monitor that displayed the webcast's picture-in-picture video stream. Facing the girls was a computer monitor, keyboard and microphones. During the broadcast, Yeung manned the phones, taking orders made through a toll-free line.
"We're always looking for new ways to promote our toys, and this kind of webcast gets our name in front of new and different customers," Yeung said. "It also helps us sell more product in market segments we don't normally sell to."
