Holiday Heist Shutters Winnipeg Boutique

WINNIPEG, Canada - Thieves escaped with more than $25,000 CDN of merchandise from a Winnipeg erotica shop burglarized during the Canadian Thanksgiving holiday. Aphrodite's Whisper Boutique, which opened just three weeks earlier, lost almost half its stock to the crime. While the majority of the stolen goods were lingerie, the thieves also absconded with leather apparel, fetish gear, and a selection of sex toys.

Store owner Cassandra Bullied told the Winnipeg Sun she believes the culprits, who pried open the shop's rear entrance, may have visited the store earlier, posing as frisky shoppers in order to scope out her security measures. "They knew what they were looking for," she said. "As the police put it, if they want something bad enough they'll take it."

The theft is a blow to Bullied's business, shutting down the store for approximately one month just as novelty retailers kick off their busy season that lasts through the holidays. At press time, the police had made no arrests.
