High School Coach Accused of Using Sex Toys on Student

CHICAGO - A high school basketball coach has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl by taking her to a sex shop, buying novelties and using toys on her.

George Turner, 45, head coach of the boys' varsity basketball team at Walter Payton College Prep, faces charges of criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

"[Turner] befriended the victim," said Kathleen Muldoon, the assistant state attorney.

According to Muldoon, Turner touched the girl's breasts in the athletic director's office and, on another occasion, engaged in oral sex with her. The alleged incident involving sex toys took place on Feb. 7, Muldoon said.

Muldoon said Turner drove the girl to the sex shop and then to a lakefront, where he used novelty items on her and gave them to her to keep.

The girl turned the novelties over to investigators, Muldoon said.

Turner allegedly touched the breasts of another 15-year-old student weeks later.

Muldoon said the second alleged victim told the first alleged victim, and the girls reported the alleged incidents to authorities.

"I think it's going to get cleared up," Turner said. "My friends have been really supportive. No one really believes what's going on."
