ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - D-Dub Software has introduced BoneTown, billed as "the world's first action-adventure porno video game."
Bonetown is a virtual world where players compete for social status through challenges that involve hardcore sex, drugs, politically-incorrect humor and arcade-style fighting. The game's ultimate mission: to liberate Bonetown from the control of "The Man, Inc."
Creators Hod and J.B. spent three years developing the adults-only game, which debuted earlier this month at the 2008 AVN Adult Novelty Expo. During a presentation of the game at ANE, Hod spoke about the hypocrisy of video game ratings.
"What the Entertainment Software Rating Board is telling us is that sex is worse than killing," he said. "In our game, you can't kill a single person, there's no blood, and you can only have sex with consenting women. We're trying to sell this game to willing adults, and yet, we'll be banned while a game where you can shoot a child will be on the shelves at Wal-Mart. Sex is definitely an important part of the game, but it's in no way the only entertaining aspect of it."
Bonetown has come a long way since Hod founded D-Dub Software out of his garage in 2004. According to Hod, the game generated strong buzz at ANE.
"Response from retailers, other vendors and even performers was phenomenal, as no one in the adult industry had ever encountered anything quite like BoneTown," he said.
D-Dub Software is now taking pre-orders for BoneTown. The game goes on sale Aug. 31 online and in adult stores around the world.
