Green a Hot Issue for Aussie Adult Retail Industry

DEAKIN WEST, Australia - In a recent article in Australia's Eros Association's newsletter, the national adult retail and entertainment association called for the greening of the adult novelty industry.

In response to a meeting at the Internet Industry Association on the topic and positive governmental actions regarding climate change, Fiona Patten, president of the Eros Association, had the following thoughts for the adult industry:

She urged manufacturers to reduce packaging on their products, optimize computer servers to save energy, advocated "carbon footprint-free sex," and she has also taken the initiative to contact Planet Ark about how to provide recycling facilities for toys, videos, batteries, and DVDs.

"Some corporations are moving towards preferring suppliers that are green. Tesco [a major supermarket chain] in the UK wants all their suppliers to be carbon neutral by 2011. We should be doing the same. Sex is life giving and what better way to express this than by going green? It's a good slogan anyway," she wrote in today's Eros newsletter.
