SAN FRANCISCO - Adult novelty retailer Good Vibrations joined the newest form of social networking, Twitter, in August 2008 in an effort to give customers and fans another way to stay connected. Today, the company boasts almost 1,200 followers for GoodVibesSF and hundreds for GoodVibesMA.
"We realize that social media has gone mainstream, and ignoring it is no longer an option for us," said Senior Director of eCommerce, Jonathan Plotzker. "Now, we Tweet about things that most businesses do - sales, promotions, new products, etc. - however we also Tweet about our blog headlines, weekly free erotica, and questions to our followers such as, ‘What does "Virginity" mean to you?' and forward things like Sex Workers Surveys."
Twitter is just the latest techno-savvy addition for Good Vibrations. The company also has a strong presence on Facebook and MySpace, and now, with Twitter, Good Vibrations can connect directly to their customers, sex educators, sex-positive porn directors and stars, and the many quality sex toy makers who also Tweet.
At GoodVibesSF, everyone in the company is welcomed to Tweet. Currently, the majority of updates come from the company's Web and Marketing Departments. However, Good Vibrations' Senior Buyer Coyote Days also Tweets from her phone and takes pictures (TwitPic) and video (12Seconds.tv) to post while she's out at tradeshows and meeting interesting people in the industry.
