Adult-novelty retailer and manufacturer Good Vibrations will present a special midnight screening of Beyond Boogie Nights on June 13 at the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, Mass., with an in-store pre-party held at its location at 308-A Harvard Street, facing the Center Street parking lot.
Beyond Boogie Nights will feature classic clips from the "golden age" of pornography and will be led by Dr. Carol Queen.
"Older porn is my favorite kind," says Carol Queen, who will be the curator and lecturer on the "History of Porn" before the film. "It hails from ‘the golden age of the blue movie,' when directors and performers thought cultural changes were opening up the film medium in an explicit direction, and so plots and performances are more substantial in '70s movies than most made since then. Also, bodies look somewhat more natural and diverse, and much of it has that ‘sexual revolution' glow you just don't see any more. It's fun, often funny, sexy, plus it's a trip back in time."
The in-store, funky-themed pre-party, which will have food, drink, prizes, a disc jockey and more, will start at 9 p.m. and attendees can take advantage of a 15 percent discount throughout the evening.
