SAN FRANCISCO—Good Vibrations, the legendary San Francisco-based company that takes pride in providing accurate information on sexuality and toys for grown-ups, will open its fifth location in time for the 2010 holiday shopping season: a tasteful and attractive flagship store across from Bloomingdale's in downtown San Francisco.
Situated near Union Square and featuring ample access to parking, public transit, restaurants and the museum district, Good Vibrations, always a destination retailer for adults desiring a comfortable and well-stocked place to shop for quality pleasure products, looks forward to bringing customers' experiences to a new level in this exciting and accessible location.
"We are so pleased and proud to be expanding our retail operations just in time for the holiday season,” said Chief Operating Officer Jackie Strano. “Where our other Bay Area stores are more neighborhood/destination-based locations, our new store is over 3,000 square feet in the heart of the downtown shopping and hotel district, easily accessible to tourists and locals alike. We are very excited about store number five!"
The downtown store will be Good Vibrations' fourth in the Bay Area. The iconic retailer, which has been doing business in Mission District locations since 1977, opened its second store in Berkeley in 1994; added a location in the Polk Street/Nob Hill neighborhood in 2003; and established an Eastern Seaboard store in Brookline, Mass., a section of the greater Boston metropolitan area, in 2006.
According to Staff Sexologist/Chief Cultural Officer Carol Queen, PhD, who is the company's longest-serving staff member, "I'm excited about this expansion particularly because our downtown location will make us so much more accessible to visitors to San Francisco. There's no experience that compares to a visit to a truly sex-positive store like Good Vibrations, and this will allow us to do an even better job promoting pleasure, quality and communication."
Construction has already begun on the new venue, and Good Vibrations expects to open its doors for business shortly after Thanksgiving. Plans for opening festivities will be announced shortly.
