BOISE, Idaho - "When it comes to a condom, it all depends on the two people who are using them," said Caryn Thompson, owner of O!ZoneWholesale. "One condom, one brand does not fit all. Not everything is a Lifestyle or a Trojan. The best of the best is for the person who eventually finds that one condom." Thompson believes she has found that condom brand, even if it is not touted as the "best." Yet.
The owner of O!ZoneWholesale as well as The O!Zone Shop is the exclusive American distributor and importer for RFSU condoms, Sweden-based manufacturers of vegan and cruelty-free condoms and a nonprofit focused on sex-ed. RFSU is the acronym for Riksförbundet för sexuell upplysning, translation: the Swedish Association for Sexuality Education. The condoms are finished off in vibrant pastel colors, packaged in threes, and regarded as Europe's favorite for fit and protection. Thompson hopes people in the United States will catch on and possibly find out what they may be missing.
"What I can offer is a quality product that fits nicely on a shelf and is different from the rest that is out there," Thompson told ANB from her Idaho-based O!Zone Shop.
Thompson admitted to a slow start when she first obtained her license to import for RFSU almost three years ago and acknowledged the phase as a learning curve. In April, Thompson set up shop at the International Lingerie Show in Las Vegas. Although severely sick and not able interact with the slew of attendees and exhibitors, she won't let that hold her back for round two at next month's show when she will walk the Rio Hotel Convention Center floor continuing on her national campaign and making purchases for her store in Boise, as well.
Now, her campaign for O!ZoneWholesale has leapfrogged to a national level. She has gone from local retailers and word-of-mouth to a national advertising campaign in various publications.
"I just want for everyone to step out of the ordinary and experience the difference," she concluded.
