Fairvilla Manager to Do Jail Time for Charity

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Vinnie Russomanno, manager of the Fairvilla store in Cape Canaveral, has been arrested and will serve time in jail. However, he's doing it for charity.

Russomanno's time behind bars will help raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Russomanno, who will be locked up Thursday morning as part of his ongoing fundraising effort, hopes donators will put up at least $2,800 for his release from the Coco Beach Jail, where he will be served bread and water from the jail's one-star menu.

"I am a little nervous," Russomanno told ANB. "It's a great cause. I know a lot of people in the community, and I always want to give back to them. Everyone should be willing to do more stuff like this ... for a great cause."

Donations will help provide annual flu shots, clinical diagnostic exams, wheelchairs, leg braces and communication devices, in addition to helping send children to summer camp for a week.

The Muscular Dystrophy Association provides services to tens of thousands of people affected by any of the 43 neuromuscular diseases covered under its program.

Donations for Russomanno's bail can be made online.
