Dreamgirl Rolls Out Halloween Costume Collection

LAS VEGAS - Dreamgirl International has put the final touches on its 2008/2009 Halloween Costume Collection and has unveiled a line of reversible two-in-one costumes, Marketing Manager Lar Hovespian said.

"We've launched four of them in our new costume catalog and are super-excited about the wave of positive feedback we've been getting from buyers all over the country," she told AVN Novelty Business. "We first featured them in mid-January at our ‘Let's Make a Deal' buyers' costume preview show at Harrah's in Las Vegas. People couldn't fathom that we could have a ruffled white dress on one side and a straight devil dress on the other and it comes with a set of 11 pieces for under $25!"

CEO Christopher Scharff said it's like getting two costumes for the price of one.

"A girl can go to a party as an angel and leave as a devil," he explained. "The costumes and their accessories can be used to create two completely different looks, thereby enhancing the fun of any Dreamgirl customer."

The first offerings in the collection of reversible costumes are "Miss Hellen Back," which combines angel and devil costumes; the "Which Witch?" costume, which allows the wearer to transform from a good witch to a bad witch; "Buggin' Out," which combines bumblebee and ladybug costumes; and "Twice As Fun," which features the traditional holiday colors, red and green.

Dreamgirl also has expanded its 2008/2009 Costume Collection to include more options in extra-small for petite consumers and more plus-size costumes.

"More women feel comfortable wearing Dreamgirl costumes," Scharff said. "Demand in plus-sizes ... has increased dramatically in the past three years. Our plus-size costumes are priced identically to our regular costumes. This is completely unique to the costume industry. At Dreamgirl, we made the decision that it was unfair for a plus-size customer to pay more than a regular-price costume."

Dreamgirl also has added to its 2008/2009 Costume Accessory Collection due to the success of its accessory line last year. New accessories include hosiery, ruffled panties, petticoats, shrugs, sport bras and gloves.

Dreamgirl offers a variety of point-of-sale display posters and merchandising materials, including the In Store Shop Costume Kit, which is free for qualifying retailers.

"The cost of these posters are $12 each, but are being made available free of charge to qualifying retailers," Scharff said. "Last year, many retailers cited how important these window displays were at drawing traffic into the store."

Dreamgirl said its Costume in Store Shop Kit can be used to create a "shop-like atmosphere," for the collection and includes a header sign that displays above the Dreamgirl costume wall section.

Dreamgirl will unveil the collection next week at the Halloween Costume Show at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.
