KANE COUNTY, Ill.
- In an effort to make sure displays at Lover's Lane and other stores are
in North Aurora Village
are in "good taste," county trustees have approved new rules regulating the
display of adult products.
The new regulations, which trustees unanimously
approved Monday, require stores to restrict adult products to areas that are
not in plain view of the public or children younger than 18 years old.
"There is nothing risqué on our windows, and all of our manikins are covered up," said Jenny Silva, regional sales manager for Lover's Lane. "It is done very tastefully, and there is nothing you can see from the outside that you would at a Victoria's Secret or your mall. The only thing that separates us from Victoria's Secret is that we also sell novelty."
The recently opened Lover's Lane, which sells lingerie
and adult products, is close to a nearby school and is in question.
North Aurora restricts adult businesses to industrial parks. However, Lover's Lane is not considered an adult business because adult products make up less than 25 percent of what it sells.
Lover's Lane has 29 stores in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois.
