Cleis Goes Bi...Again

SAN FRANCISCO - Cleis Press, the publishers of Best Lesbian Erotica and other adult-oriented titles, have reissued 2001's Best Bisexual Women's Erotica, edited by Cara Bruce, with a new, racy jacket so customers can indeed judge the book by its cover.

"Our print run ran out last year, but we were getting a lot of requests for it, so we decided to print it up again. The cover needed punching up, so we reissued it with one that was more provocative and reflected the content," Kara Wuest, assistant to the publishers, told AVN Novelty Business.

What distinguishes the book is that the treatment of bisexual women in fiction stories is very real, not the cliché "having their cake and eating it too" perspective. "When the book came out in 2001, it was the first of its kind for bisexual women. Now with other similar anthologies out there, this is still one of the best. The quality of writing is high, and there are clever takes on the theme," Wuest added.

She cited one story, R. Gay's "On the Care and Feeding of White Boys," as very human and funny. It's the story of two African American lesbians who want to try something they never thought of trying before: having a threesome with a white man.

Wild fantasies, recognizable emotions, and writers such as Carol Queen and Susannah Indigo make this a must-read for those who are titillated by the subject. As per a review by retailer Good Vibrations, "In tales that push erotica into the realm of timeless fiction, this romantic, steamy, adorable, and sometimes heartbreaking collection delivers a smart, one-handed read."
