LIVERPOOL, England - The city of Chester's business and community leaders are asking the staff at a Nice ‘n' Naughty store to put together a striking window display as part of the "Chester's Smile" campaign.
Store Manager Claudine Thelwell and colleague Louise Jones responded by creating a cheeky Adam and Eve theme for the shop front on Brook Street close to the city's main railway station.
Nice ‘n' Naughty Director Simon Prescott said he was delighted to be part of the marketing campaign, which also involved well-known mainstream retailers.
"It wasn't that long ago that we were having to fight to have window displays in our stores," he said. "To be invited by a partnership of community organizations to be involved in their tourism plans is a real breakthrough for our industry. It demonstrates that it is possible to break down some of the myths and taboos surrounding adult retailers."
Chester City Management-a partnership of business, education, community, and voluntary groups, including police, fire, and resident groups-launched the "Chester's Smile" campaign to boost tourism.
A judging panel of local dignitaries will visit the Nice ‘n' Naughty store in June to consider the display for a prize.
