Blow Energy Drink Doesn't Mix Well With Congresswoman

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Blow Energy Drink Mix, which is sold as a white powder and is carried at adult novelty shops, bars, nightclubs and other adult venues, is receiving heat from U.S. Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack for its similarity to cocaine.

The Blow drink mix, the name of which is slang for cocaine, comes with a credit card and a mirror to "cut" the powder to be mixed into a drink.

"It's an outrageous product and is being marketed in a way that glorifies drug use," Bono Mack said.

Bono Mack called the drink mix a "precursor" and "gateway" to real cocaine.

Logan Gola, creator of the drink mix, said Bono Mack should relax.

"We don't market toward children," he said. "We're an adult beverage. And our marketing is edgy. It's sexy. But it's also tongue-in-cheek. We're mocking and spoofing a culture that existed in our country in the ‘80s, and we have a legal right to do that."

The drink mix hit shelves in late 2007 and is sold in 1,400 retail locations nationwide, Gola said.

At the product's website, the drink mix can be purchased in amounts ranging from "The Stash Box Sampler Pack" to "The Fiender's Hook-Up."
