WOONSOCKET, R.I. - Home-party planning company Athena's Home Novelties is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
"I feel truly blessed to have reached this milestone," said company President Jennifer Jolicoeur. "It was a lot of hard work and sacrifice to get to where we are now, but celebrating 10 years in business really helps to justify all of it."
Jolicoeur started the company in the basement of a friend's house and later moved it to a 1,000-square-foot location in downtown Woonsocket. After five years, the company outgrew the space and moved to its current 10,000-square-foot location just down the road from its original site.
Athena's, which offers a line of bathing, aromatherapy, massage and adult novelty products, is a local company with national reach. It has more than 750 independent distributors operating in more than 30 states.
"Our product line is as diverse as our customer base," Jolicoeur said. "We strive to have something for everyone, whether it's a candle, a book, massage oils or something a bit more intimate.
"It's rewarding to feel as though you've made a positive change in someone's life, and with this company and our distributors, that's exactly what we try to do: make a positive change in every woman's life that we come in contact with."
